At present our research is mainly focused in forest tree (Pinus pinaster, Quercus ilex) and aromatic (Lavandula latifolia) species.
– In forest tree species we are developing protocols for micropropagation through somatic embryogenesis and organogenesis of elite trees. Also we are developing conditions for haploid callus induction, as well as protocols for gene transfer in Pinus pinaster.
– In Lavandula latifolia we are elucidating mechanisms controlling monoterpene biosynthesis through the overexpression of genes encoding key enzymes of its biosynthetic pathway. Also we are studying the cross-talk between the cytosolic and plastidial pathways that produce the C5 precursors of monoterpenes
